For an organisation to move from good to great, leaders must be nurtured at all levels. Becoming a more effective leader involves individuals in a complex process of changing behaviours, understanding how individuals and teams work best. You will need to develop excellent communication skills, the ability to build trust and rapport to effectively share vision, values and objectives and be able to deal with and embrace change.
Above all, you should be an authentic leader with the developed ability to inspire others.
Improvement is an important characteristic of all successful leaders, improvement which can be reflected upon and learnt from. Any effective leader shouldn’t be afraid of making mistakes - only of repeating them.
ILM Inspire Leadership Programme - (5 days plus 1 day tutorial)
In partnership with The Professional Development Centre, we offer the INSPIRE Leadership Programme. Having received phenomenal feedback from delivery in-company, we are pleased to offer this programme to existing or aspiring leaders. Intended for middle or senior managers , the programme will take delegates out of their “comfort zone” and encourage different thinking. With a cohort limited to 12 delegates, experiential activities are fully utilised which are challenging, novel and have variety in order to break current mind sets.
Using both indoor and outdoor space (the green classroom), this programme is delivered at Ty Newydd in Brecon Beacons. A diagnostic test will be run upon registration to ensure that you will study and reflect upon your learning at the level that is cognisant with your managerial level and experience to date. On successful completion of the programme, you will achieve either the ILM Level 5 Award in Leadership & Level 7 Award in Strategic Leadership (dependant on your level of study and experience).
Start date: 4th & 5th November 2012
Duration: 6 days (other dates are 19 - 20 November, 6 December & 13 December (tutorial)
Cost: £1,295 (funding may be available, check eligibility on enquiry)
Undertaking the programme on a residential basis is an option; we can discuss this further to see if it fits with your personal circumstances but of course would provide the ability to focus on the Leadership programme without distraction.

Nemo Loans, Cardiff
In 2011/12, the senior management team within Nemo Loans undertook a challenging and thought provoking Leadership programme, delivered by USW Commercial Services and the Professional Development Centre. The programme was extremely successful and our INSPIRE programme is based upon the format utilised with Nemo. Feedback includes:

- Facilitated development of a well defined communication plan which resulted in strong networking. Recent feedback regarding communication confirmed that the improved approach has been well received amongst Nemo employees.
- Increased knowledge of operational excellence meant we could review and improve existing processes; providing a framework and measurement criteria to faciltate change.
- Useful theories on resistance to change have been used and will be invaluable in forthcoming programme of change.

Delivery:
The Leadership trainers were excellent, really bringing the best out of the group. They were challenging and stimulating, and encouraged people to be open minded and to take a reflective step back on things. They really made us think outside the box in every session we had with them it was always super interactive and we had to think all the time which was great.
